About
A long time ago in a– no wait, in 2009 (not in a galaxy far, far away either) two people who shared a love of the same sorts of things started talking. Many things grew from all this talking - including the website you are looking at now (and all the crazy stuff on it) - also an engagement and in 2015, a wedding! :O The website was put online in 2010 and was just the blog but didn’t really have any posts until a little later and since then it has grown into what it is today. A giant mess of everything!
On this site you’ll find many different projects we’re working on – some are costume-related, some are craft-related, others are video game-related… some are all three of those together! There’s craziness hidden around every corner so keep your eyes peeled.

What does Zhobot mean?
First off, we both love robots. Machinarium is a favorite game of ours, R2-D2 is too darling for this world, P-Body & Atlas are magnificent, Claptrap is just PERFECTION — we could go on for a very long time. We just love robots. The “Zho” is a thing that Heather’s family started doing in regards to cute animals — or cute anything, really. Like a family trip to the zoo would get lots of “Awwww, so cute. Zho zho zho zho. Looooook, OH MY GOD THE BABY CHEETAH IS ROLLING OVER. ZHO ZHO.” It’s an exclamation to show that whatever you’re saying “Zho” (or however many times you repeat said “zho”) to is flippin’ adorable. We love robots. We really love cute robots. Zhobot.
DRAETHEUS / NATE:
Twitter: @Draelight Games: Half-Life series, Portal series, (okay anything by Valve really), Bioshock series, Dishonored, lots of indie games and lots of DOS games Music: Celldweller and his ilk, various other types of rock, metal, and electronica Movies: The Matrix and things in that vein (future, time travel, mind trippy, etc) Also the Muppets forever and ever. TV: Arrested Development, 30 Rock, most everything Heather gets me into since I didn’t used to watch TV. The Muppets also apply here. Nate is not the social butterfly of Zhobot. More like the groundhog who sticks his head out of the hole too see if there will be 6 more weeks of winter because HELL YEAH SNOW DAYS! He enjoys doing weird nerdy computer things like modifying code, editing linux config files, and playing with virtual machines. He also enjoys sculpting and making small crafty things that no one buys at conventions. :< His bucket list has a number of hugetastic creative milestones like writing a book, releasing an electronica/rock fusion album, and creating a video game. Will these things ever happen? STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT 50 YEARS TO FIND OUT! BUM BUM BUUUUUUUUUUUM! In the meantime, he plans on writing more small web apps to make Zhobot useful and interesting to fellow geeks. |
HEXTERAH / HEATHER:
Twitter: @hexterah Tumblr: hexterah Games: Myst/Riven, Persona series, Dance Central series, Silent Hill 2, Fallout 3, Saints Row series Music: Kate Bush, Akira Yamaoka, VIXX, Julien-K, BT, Empire of the Sun Movies: Legend, Clue, The Warriors, The Mummy, Heathers TV: Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Stranger Things Heather is usually the one you’ll see updating all of Zhobot’s social media pages. She is occasionally the more focused of the two, which isn’t saying a lot since her and Nate are both usually distracted by anything shiny or the least bit interesting (DUST MOTES?! WHERE?!). She is also the half that gets stressed easier – this was proven before Katsucon 2013 when there were so many things to finish that Heather gave herself a canker sore in her throat the size of a dime. The doctor said OH THAT’S FROM STRESS, WHAT’S GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE and Heather made this face :| --and pushed three unfinished costumes back to a later convention. These days she is currently trying to chill out (lol) and not procrastinate on things like new costumes (lololololol), so we’ll see how that goes! When the zombie apocalypse comes, she will be fine as long as she has a golf cart and a pen for stabbing zombie's eyes. She may not last long, but she’ll go out driving/stabbing like a champ. |
